not sure about dota 1 but both non-aghs and aghs wards are affected by chrono. Tested in lobby.

Chrono will reveal invis(including slark ult), double time lock damage, disable evasion, disable all towers including the fountain, give Void over max move speed, phase, go through bkb, cc your entire team winning the game, slap you in the ass, and sleep with your girlfriend.

In the Chronosphere where time, thus my girlfriend, is still, that qualifies as rape... That sneaky no-faced bastard! I'm gonna need a restraining order against the Void in all my future CM-games, and no way I'm playing All Pick ever again.

Out of curiosity, I would like to see the item timings for offlane wins versus offlane losses. While teams put Void in offlane for fast access to Chrono, he loses most of the timing windows he normally has in the safelane, Generally speaking the hero loses if he can't get Mask -> second item at a reasonable pace.

I didn't realize how happy I was that pubs would stick to certain heroes in annoying fashion until they started picking new heroes that they're even more annoying with. Also it seems like every time there's a decent player of some overpicked hero, he's on the other team, but whenever someone on my team picks one, they feed like hell -_-

There's no pause state in dota 2 so can't use any interactions from Dota 1 with regards to chrono/astral.

Yes so very much. I feel for anyone who likes to main melee carries that aren't FV because things just got really annoying for you.

At the same time that's what makes it so fun to hex a void in Chrono or even better Glimpse him and watch as he tried to run back to his bubble before it expires.

nice article, thanks for the analysis.
I think the fact that void is mostly working out in the off-lane is a sign that the typical lategame safe-lane agi-carry is dead. AM, PL, Spectre, 1-position Void, Duza, Luna and Gyro all see close to no play at all and and if they are picked, i see them lose. Agi-carries with higher utility like Siren or Morph work out only if they are in the midlane so their utility part is stronger thanks to the levels. Not that i mind the shorter and more action packed games or miss the 70 mins 4-protect pl farm feasts.
That being said i think that most of these need a small buff or jungle gold needs a small buff, so these guys can come online a bit earlier. Jungle buff would mean a lot of nerfs for Doom, Tinker and Enigma though, but buff DS, Chen, Ench and Bat, who could use it.

i always felt 3 void was just another milestone in the escalation of greed (4 core > 3 core > 2 core > 1 core > push > 4 core)
vg's group stage games were mostly complete stomps because their opponents were drafting newschool 3/4 core while vg just stuck to push lineups disguised as 2-core lineups

The first five heroes are appropriate to talk down, but Luna and Gyro have never been lategame carries (although they can function at that stage). They are picked to win fights early and create strong trilanes. The huge post-TI3 blow to trilanes drove Gyro most of the way off the map, although the heavy nerf to his carry potential (Flak Cannon) was probably more influential in the long run. The nerf to Luna's agility is what hurt her most. She's never had the best stats, and lowering them even further took her out of the big picture. They'd probably still be big if they hadn't been nerfed so much.
Siren and Morph are still in it because they have crazy good escape mechanisms. Naga needs less than a second, Morphling needs the tiniest fraction of a second... and gone. Out of there instantly. No way to track them down and kill them, like with all the other carries. I'd argue that a huge part of why the first four heroes are practically gone from competitive is the prevalence of Blink Dagger. What good does it do if your AM blinks out if three of their heroes blink right after him?

What good does it do if your AM blinks out if three of their heroes blink right after him? I agree to most of what you say. I agree that Luna and Gyro provide a lot more to the early game than e.g. AM, but they also need a lot of farm to fulfill their physical dps role. When your average game is around 30-35 mins long, those heroes just dont have the time to get 3 or more items. Heroes like Weaver, ember or morph only need aquilla to do reasonable amounts of physical damage and their second item timing hits way harder. Add to that that they have the escape move you describe and you have a winner.
I think Naga is picked because she herself provides you with the tool to draw the game out.

I remember seeing ixmike88 streaming his offlane void months ago... Definitely didn't think then that it would be one of the most popular picks at TI4.
