good to see a few more teams get money than top 8 :D

Looks like a fair distribution.

This time it's going to be 3,5 millions dream coil, s4. Raise the stakes!
And final matches of those ladder playoffs will be sick. 450k is the price.
|
Good spread i feel. That 9th to 8th, damn!
|
Man even if you end up in 2nd, the prize money you get is almost comparable to the 1st place finish in TI2 and TI3.
|
Wow 14th place gets 20k that's pretty cool
|
Would've been nice for 1st place to get 1 mill/player. Doesn't seem like it'll happen though.

Still more top heavy than I like for first but progress I guess.
The finals are a match for multiple millions which is pretty disgusting.

Prizepool is still growing though. Still, taxes and stuff will cut this number a bit.

3,5kk$ RNG. I would have sent at least half into offering, rofl.

I like the cuttoffs. REALLY gonna make those games high stakes.

I'm completely fine with the prize distribution. It looks a little top heavy from the numbers but from the percentages it's pretty fair.
I'm still proposing that TIs be held every 2 years from now on with the gap year having Valve help fund other lans working with their compendium creators or however they want to do it. Keeps it special, gives us the headline ($XX million dollar tournament!! held only once every 2 years) for traditional media, helps other tourneys in the scene and distributes the money around while avoiding the Riot solution of "we hand out money" and more of a "we help you help yourself" feel, gives teams more time for stability instead of making teams just for TI (yes it will still happen but teams have much more time to find themselves), we won't have to do the month and a halfish of death this year on both eastern and western scenes where every tournament rushed to have their tourney squeezed into the schedule, and there won't be a stale "and now it's time to save money for compendium hats again" feel and more of a "oh man, TI time! I forgot how exciting this felt".

the percentages are fine except how #1 get 46% and #2 gets 13%
|
But now teams won't try because they'll be happy with 20 grand!

The stakes are pretty fucking high when playing in the grand final though. That's a fucking huge difference in money. Sounds pretty exciting for me.

Prize pool distribution is well thought out. Almost 50% to first place almost ensuring the 1 mil. for every player which will make headlines, main event teams will get a lot of dough, and money for 9th-14th placed teams works like a bounty that people were suggesting, minimising the risk of throwing the games in group stage.

Well, i guess it's side effect of having such prizepool. Honestly, i don't think that it had to be that big, people just went too ham on it.
Jumping from 2,7 millions into 10+, uh. Billion in 2 years, Valve?
But honestly, how else can you distribute it? Give more to teams who couldn't reach the Key Arena stage? Give millions to 5th-6th place teams? Give more to finalist with reducing the winner? It's pretty well-thought imo, for current situation.

Imagine getting 9/10 and not 7/8. Brutal. I like it.
|
prizejump from 9/10 to 7/8 is ridiculously dumb
