Or the bomber is constantly moving around. We don't really know what the FBI has on this person, if anything. So we have not reached the level of Kaczynski just yet.

You're not in the Austin area at the moment, so far it seems contained to that area. As mentioned earlier, it would be a scary scenario if there's copy cats.

I feel like the convenience of Amazon will still outweigh this issue, especially because it's not like you buy and deliver bombs on Amazon.

It is easy to build bombs with household items. Having them explode consistently with a set trigger is much harder. Building a bomb is like baking. You can look up a recipe, but you still need to execute and not screw up the complex process. But rather than ruining a pie, the pie explodes and kills you.

So yeah, building a bomb that can be shipped showed some level of expertise. And building two(or maybe three) different types of bombs could mean this bomber really knows what they are doing.

I wonder how badly these security/ propaganda scandals will affect Facebook stock/ FAANG stocks in general; yesterday, Facebook stock dropped quite a bit (although it was a bad day for most of the market, to be fair).

I think tech stocks are due for a pretty massive downward correction and this Cambridge Analytica fiasco may be the starting point for it. A lot of the value attached to these stocks seems like mostly hot air.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see another tech stock correction before the entire market becomes bull, but I'm hoping that this incident is more isolating in terms of affecting mainly Facebook/ social media and not permeating into other tech niches (e.g., Amazon, Nvidia).

And I just learned Kaczynski's essay's are available on Amazon for less than a buck. If this continues I expect that to change.

Apparently the FBI is reaching out to the attacker and asking him/her to contact them. Seems like they are working on the assumption, as mentioned earlier, that there is some logical reason for these bombings beyond "I like killing people" which would justify the bomber talking.

The (failed) shift to mailing the bombs makes the whole situation even weirder-requires a clear target after they used a tripwire bomb that would be indiscriminate, on the surface much more traceable than the other bombs.

Unless of course they're playing 4D chess and the bomb was meant to explode at the facility. Which I wouldn't put past them at this point.

I wonder who/where it was addressed to; from the other bombings there doesn't seem to be a pattern of victims especially given the tripwire, but I'm sure people said that after the first few Unabomber attacks as well.

Or didn't want..

It's highly suspicious when the report isn't immediately released, and even more so when it's months late.

It’s highly suspicious in the private sector, but in government, expect long processes. It’s way more normal that quickly expedited stuff. Particularly when the IG is investigating at least two other major topics within the department.

I’m really not in board with your conspiracy that Sessions lied about two reports seen by dozens within the department in a landscape that involves millions of leaks. The IG was appointed by Obama. The OPR is career people, not Trump people. If you think for a second this is all Session/Trump’s doing, and they would know they will be exposed soon afterwards, you’re just a little too naturally conspiratorial and believing Sessions is additionally incredibly stupid in a public way.

You don't think its remotely weird that a man got fired on the recommendation of a report that isn't going to be out for another 2 months?

Do you think its weird to outright lie about your reasons if you’ll be proven wrong in that timeframe?

Yes. And I don't think we have much reason to assume this administration is composed of perfectly rational actors, to frame it generously.

Considering the president spent an entire year attacking McCabe(including telling McCabe “Ask your wife want it feels like to be a loser” in a phone call), it would have made sense to fire him at the same time the report was released to the public. It would add creditability to the firing and undercut the narrative that it was done at the bidding of Trump. If the White House cared about the process and assure the public that Trump is not trying to stack law enforcement with a bunch of “Yes Men”, they would have released the IG report at the same time.

They said Facebook dropped $4 bn and the market lost 400 points because of it. So if it continues to have these issues, they'll continue to affect stocks.

Whats crazy is snap chat lost 1.3 B when Kylie jenner posted that she had stopped using it! People wonder why she gets paid so much to tweet!

Rihanna caused them to lose a lot more when she responded to a DV game they put out.

Shockingly just 800 million! But that could be because it had already dropped from the Kylie tweet. Overall not a good month for snapchat!

Snapchat died when Instagram came out with the same concept, thats why they tried to get into the product space with snap chat glasses, but they didn't learn from how Google glasses worked out...

If he refused the recommendations of the FBI to fire the man for two major infractions, I’d question his responsibility and decision-making ability. He’s in an embattled administration and everybody is insanely willing to make up the most far-fetched conspiracy theories that out Trump in a bad light. His best move is to get along with business and let the process play out.

Good on you Sessions, and keep it up, as far as I’m concerned.

As I said previously. I don't think Sessions or the IG is lying. Neither of them is stupid.
However what I did previously question is the timing of McCabe being fired and that the report just provided a convenient (but possibly correct) cover for an action Trump was going to do anyway out of spite.

The report that recommends McCabe's firing not being out for 2 months after he has been fired, to me, fits into this.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

The timing of the firing is no coincidence. It’s clear the process was expedited. There’s a presumption that the president had an influence, considering his statements.
