Liquid winning will be cool but matu :\ Then there's og winning back to back while having fun. I like their vibes. But I also don't wanna deal with people crediting them as GOAT when they only show up in TI and are irrelevant during the rest of the season. TI is THE tournament that matters. It's the world cup. It matters more than everything else and they'll certainly deserve to get some GOAT talk if they do take the double.

I mean the inverse of that is they only showed up for 2 tournaments the entire year and for the majority of the year looked straight up bad. Michael jordan or Tom Brady don't get called the goat because they go on miracle runs then not make the playoffs for years on end. (side note I think if OG wins Notail wins again he is in the discussion and probably the favorite for GOAT but I think calling this team the best team ever when they have had such lackluster performances outside of two tournaments is a real stretch)

So, the DPC did work this year, but there's clearly issues for teams that come in after a long season at the top. Though, Wings & TL are the only TI winners that had the same roster at January 1 of the year they won, I believe.

Top 6 at TI9 just replaces VP with OG, literally "the team that has problems at TI" with "the team that does best on the main stage". I think currently the biggest issue with the DPC in terms of qualifing for TI is treating the first major and last major as equal in terms of qualification process. Ehome came REALLY fucking close to qualifying for TI based on a good showing at the first major and then having a mostly different team at the end of the DPC. That is insane that it was even close for a team that had looked like trash for the last 5 months to still almost qualify.

NiP actually did quality for TI off of their first placement with a stand-in, as 1350 points was enough to qualify. They'd get more points throughout the year, but we suspected it would be enough to make it to TI off one tournament and that played out. As the TI9 "tiers" show, Pro Dota is pretty stable for quality of teams, as long as their roster is stable. Last tournament of the year should be like the Super Major was for the TI8 season. That one turned out to not matter because Optic ran into VP for the 5th time that season and VGJ.Thunder snuck into the direct invites, but the idea would be good. Maybe 50% more points at the end. Though Valve does have reason to encourage teams to play throughout the year, as the Pro Scene is their advertising budget.
