"more points at next major" ? What about "More points to the teams that did well in season one and here is at least part of the price money we wanted to give out at the major. Especially for Div2 teams, that will be helping!" Anyone knows who would have hosted the Major? And I will keep my eyes on IEM Katowice 2022 for CS:GO. Let's see if they also drop the the tournament...

Some pros are vocally saying there needs to be some kind of reform, because at its current state, it's unsustainable and threatens their livelihoods. EG's manager wrote that after TI10, Valve told the teams which sounds very sad to me. There's little to no channels of communication about these earthshattering decisions and Valve are almost using the language of abusers to tell players to stop airing out their worries and complaints, or else they'll turn away. I don't blame Sumail for having this thought in his mind right now. If all the teams decide to just not compete in season 2 at least we will have some sort of stable system, either better communication or maybe dota just dies completely. Either way better than the current state of things.

Valve does care about steam and honestly with enough bad rep and/or bad things happening to a leading product/franchise they can be eclipsed by a competitor and become irrelevant. Happened before in every industry and can happen again Good examples are WoW, Yahoo, Overwatch and many many more. Even facebook got eclipsed eventually.

What do you guys n girls think?! Is this enough? For me ... while it is at least something ... i am still not convinced. It honestly still looks a little bit half-assed. But i will give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they can make something happen that eases the situation of the teams.

I agree it's something, which is good, I hope it turns into something more. Speculation on my part, and based on what I understand: likely one of the reasons the event was cancelled was because it's so hard for Chinese teams with the mandatory 2-3 week hotel quarantine (regardless of negative test or vaccine status). It is a tricky situation since excluding one region is unfair, on the other hand, it sucks a lot for the other 80% of the DPC. You can't have the tournament in China either because then all the other teams have to quarantine upon arrival. They probably didn't want to go through the same thing that happened after TI10, hell some of the team probably just got back around a month ago. Not sure what the internet connection is like to China, but maybe it's possible to hold the tournament somewhere in SEA and have the Chinese teams play online? Another option could be to play for the money and do what valve is planning with DPC points for the next tournament.

Like last year TI, if valve held the TI10 in china than those problem with "no spectator allowed" will not happen, yes I know you need to go through 2-3 week hotel quarantine (regardless of negative test or vaccine status) to enter China, but after that annoying process done, you can do what you want there with no restriction. IMO, China is the safest country from covid this days, and the most reasonable place to held such event Australia can be another alternative coz it's relatively easy to enter the country if you been fully vaccinated, though for safety from covid , for today alone +134,508 new covid case is the number, so it wouldn;t be a surprise if a player or staff gets infected once they there (like what have at TI10 in Romania) I, my self travel around coz my job requires me, for me those 2 country would be the most possible choice, China is a pain in the ass coz of their 0 covid policy, but they are the safest place and the only place that I visit which able to live very close to a normal life before covid struck, way to get out from china to return to their own country for the team probably via singapore to cut the quarantine process, coz of politics, many western country make it difficult to enter or go back to any western country if you come directly after you visit china, the way around it for me is via Singapore or some of my friend use Dubai as alternative (2 weeks quarantine transit at singapore or dubai),

The players cannot, the organizer cannot, valve could. However, quarantine for 20 teams is probably more than the rest of the tournament combined including the prize pool. It’s not worth it IMO. 2) two weeks is a long time relative to the tournament. The wild card teams will play for two days then go home, only a few days for the group stage teams. I don’t think many players would want to quarantine for nothing.
