Faked COVID test
It has been announced that Burjui, a team in the lower division of the EU DPC, has been disqualified from the league due to forging a positive COVID test to allow for an emergency replacement of a player.
The rules for DPC events states that a team can only use a standin in four of their matches. Burjui only fielded flacs, the midlaner who was on the roster when they qualified for the DPC, in the first match of the DPC. After that first match, they have utilized canceL^ as their midlaner. As they came up on the limit of matches allowed with a standin Burjui applied for an emergency transfer. They claimed that flacs had COVID-19 and supplied "a medical document of a positive COVID-19 test result".
However, the information sent in to request the transfer did not match information previously supplied by the team and DreamHack opted to investigate matters more closely. At which point "the positive COVID-19 test result was inspected and its authenticity checked, and it was discovered that the document was forged". The decision was then made to disqualify the team.
While Dota has seen its fair share of scandals over the years, this must be one of the most bone-headed moves to date. Forging medical documents in order to circumvent rules of an event, rules that were made perfectly clear before they chose to participate in the qualifiers, could very well earn them a life time ban from professional Dota 2 play. Not to speak of the fact that the team has not won a single match, let alone a series, with canceL^ in the mid lane.
