This is basically 2 weeks before TI. I wouldnt be too surprised if quite a few teams declined invites.
oh for sure. but if it turns out Optic is playing through quals then that would be quite silly. although i am not surprised the champs aren't coming back to defend their title, VP have the target on their back this upcoming TI and giving teams a chance to get free professional matches in on them pre-TI is probably not in their best interest.
that being said i fully expect a lot of non-TI teams to participate in this event.

Surely there are more invites to announce?

BTS is really just giving teams to practice in a format a little more meaningful then a scrim. I think its great.

Oh it’s before TI, I was thinking “That’s quite ballsy to invite two squads that won’t exist once TI is over”
As well as it being scrimmish for the teams, it's also great for viewers who haven't spectated DotA 2 in a while and want to "warm up" by watching this before TI8.
Pretty much a warm up before TI, both for the viewers and players.
I'm curious if this was something that they talked to players about before setting up? Like did players want something like this where it's basically paid scrims? Or is it something forced in?

This tournament is prefect for teams that didn't make it to TI or need to build together because of new rooster like EG. Don't know if teams actually can save strats as there properly be patch after this tournament.

Forced in as in they wanted to have a tournament to make more money before TI.

As an org, it's awfully hard to *force* your players to do things when said players own their invites to TI happening in barely a month.
UPDATE:
Optic and Pain have been added as invites.
Also, Let's Do It (Ex-Kinguin) won the qualifier.
I'm quite surprised this is only a 6 team event, I though more orgs would use this to bootcamp and play some competitive matches as a warm-up or final check up before TI. Now it is such a long break where no competitive matches are played.
