"I would bet on LGD"
This interview was originally published on June 9th, 2018.
Q: Thank you for agreeing to doing this interview. Someone joked that you progressed from b-god, B-God to 13-God (T/N: expanding in size from b to B to 13). What did you experience?
A: I haven’t streamed so much recently. I just eat, sleep, play some inhouses. I also walk around to relax.
Q: It has also been a while since you last appeared in the commentary box. Grade yourself.
A: I just avoided failure, I don’t know the proper names of many of the hero abilities and just stuck to the usual nicknames. Some of the viewers might have difficulty with that.
Q: VGJ.T is now assured of a direct invite to TI. Any words for rOtK?
A: Congratulations. Good for him that he can idle through another TI.
Q: Four Chinese teams are directly invited. Do you think the system work in Chinese teams’ favour?
A: I remember there was usually 4 or 5 Chinese teams (that are invited). It could get as many as 6. Chinese Dota is pretty good and very competitive. It actually depends how strong you are anyway.
Q: Any predictions for the four teams?
A: LGD is definitely the strongest. VGJ.T is not as consistent or as strong as VG or LGD. I would bet on LGD; Newbee’s recent form is not very good either.
Q: TI8 will be held in Vancouver, will that have any impact?
A: Some of players might have gotten used to KeyArena, but these things don’t affect them too much. Player’s form doesn’t change with the venue.
Q: Do you feel a bit down given that you were a player last year and a viewer in this one?
A: No. I will still cheer for Chinese teams and especially LGD. I think my mindset changes pretty quickly.
Q: Many people will have their TI memories come to them as a new one approaches. Which one is most unforgettable for you?
A: TI2, which is my first TI. We lost to iG and I still remember the line-up we had - Lone Druid, Invoker and other stuff. And we were 1-0 up. I was really unhappy when we lost at TI2 and TI3. Then I got used to losing.
Q: Matchmaking is reset. How is everything going for you?
A: I haven’t played solo yet but I heard it is really chaotic and swings 200 points in one game? Then they said it is fixed but I haven’t got the time yet.
Q: Viewers are giving very positive feedback for tournaments from DAC to Supermajor, any comments from you as a caster?
A: Perfect World tournaments are getting better and more professional. From players’ point of view, the format is becoming more reasonable and you are always taken good care of. From viewers’ point, things like the live environment and stage setup are all good.
