Kiev Major Broadcast team revealed
Just now, in a new client update, Valve has revealed the broadcast teams for the Kiev Major.
In the English team, the host is Redeye and the "newcomers" and thus the biggest surprises are Aui_2000 and 1437. Along with them, syndereN will be returning to his analyst role. Conrad Janzen will be joining them too, Conrad is mostly known in the community as the manager of the TI4-TI5 Cloud 9 roster.
The Russian broadcast host is Faker, while the casters and analysts are a mix of ex pros (Goblak, Ars-Art, Dread, NS, LoH) and some of the standard 'choices' for casters like v1lat and casperr.

Seems fine. Surprised 1437/Aui were the pros they decided to hire, but I guess they aren't that terrible to listen to.

Aui and 1437 together? Awkward

^ppd said that they didn't want him, he even asked. I don't understand valve.
Then again aui, 1437 and Synderen are a good start. It's not the most earning dota 2 captain ever, but it's a lot more than we get in most tournaments. Would be nice if 1437 developed to a good caster.
I'm so confused btw @np, with envy coaching and aui casting it doesn't look like they are going to get a new team soon. I assume they just got into a really bad argument they couldn't resolve and split up?

I think they've said they're waiting till after the Major to try to rebuild considering a shuffle is bound to happen. I know they're looking for players and have reached out to some people to see what happens after Kiev.

I don't think there are any events for them to play until Kiev. Not sure if they have decided on any of their new players yet but it wouldn't be surprising if people don't want to commit to something before seeing if any teams implode in Kiev. Though to me them making the decision not to play with 1437 and SVG already seems to suggest that they had some people clearly in mind.

I like Redeye but i'd like to see some new faces... or Machine again and keep Redeye for TI, feels overused.
|
they probably want to see how he does in kiev to decide the TI host
anyway great line-up for kiev, the only person missing compared to usual list is kotlguy but I don't mind one bit he's not being there

Easy: valve is not looking only to NA, and I think like grandgrant PPD's fans are mostly NA. As a euro I cant stand this arrogant kid. (and I just used arrogant cause, yeah, dont want a ban...).

They don't want ppd probably because it'd be a conflict of interest

The recent tournament ppd casted I was pleasantly surprised. I expected his normal stream performance and got something very different. An analyst that said true things even if they were somewhat mean but never flamed for its own sake.
Conrad is somebody I can't recall ever seeing before. Likely did sometime but honestly can't recall him. Googling says he is "Player Manager of Cloud9".
edit
Why is English team 18 but Russian 14 when the Russian cast is the main cast?
Also kind of happy about 1437. He has been doing good Youtube content lately, partly practising for this I assume.

Yes, Synderen is finally back where he belongs!
Oh and the people who are asking why Valve doesn't want PPD either didn't watch DAC at all or are completely blinded by their EG fanboism. He was the worst analyst ever. I excpected greatness from him, instead all we got were stupid smirks and alot of "I don't know"s. He didn't say one insightful thing the entire event.

I watched DAC and think he was the best panelist there, which I did not expect going into it. He did not know everything but he had several segments explaining things that were great. If you have a 3 person panel I don't want him, if you have a 4 person he has times where he is very valuable. He hasn't trained enough to always be valuable on a panel though.
Didn't like his casting segments. Don't like his normal stream. I do like his draft analysis he did a year or so ago and I did like him on that panel, he did that professionally compared to his normal stream performance.

I'm not sure the notion really applies here, I mean casters do not decide anything.
But I guess I see what you mean. However, I feel that the issue with ppd is his lack of PC. Don't get me wrong, I love to listen to his takes over drafts and games, but the guy... I don't know, maybe not the most professional/clean/family friendly there is.
He can get real cynical/critical/sarcastic. I feel he has some "James is an ass" potential in him, in a way...
Maybe I'm wrong though, and it's something else. Would like to have him there for TI, for sure.

Surprised there's no talk on the swiss format.
|
doesn't matter much imo, still single elim still relatively useless group stage (only for seeding purpose)
|
Group stage format will always be useless when you seed all teams into main stage from long drawn out group stage over 2 days without eliminating anyone . Be it Swiss or GSL, everything sucks in these situations .
