I guess it's because dota 2 will soon be released and the guys at Riot (maybe just pendragon) want to look good. Basically it's nothing more than a PR move

Not sure if I blame pendragon, he got a new job and had to listen to his new employer.
Riot on the other hand.... what a shit ass company. Not only do they try to kill healthy rivalry in ways microsoft wouldn't even dream of, seems they also tried to delete dota history and communities.

Icefrogs image was publicly marred by Pendragon infront of the entire dota community but he said absolutely nothing about it. I dont know how Riot can even defend someone like Pendragon.

There are some real gems in those D-A.com forums if one was around them all. I will pour over them some time next week to pull out some of them.
As sad it sounds, that community was still better than the current PD.com one in terms of actual content and quality trolling/hating.

Well, I'm glad this got posted, and I can deal with a "fuck the haters" attitude, even if Pendragon is obviously a scumbag, but this quote kinda gets to me:
...but my intentions have never been anything but good.
What exactly were your intentions when you: a) Posted lies regarding Icefrog in an attempt to tarnish his name b) Took down the dota forum, lied to it's users regarding what was going to happen, then basically used it as free advertising for Riot
And more specifically, how do you justify those intentions as "good"?

I already stopped playing DotA at the point all that happened (and now play LoL), but I poked a bit around in comments of other sites and forums from around that time regarding dota-allstars.com and it's closure. To me it seems that people back then already disliked him, called the site a trash fan site, said they were glad his noob forums shut down. Also it appears that he lost about half his users in a few short months. Some, if not many, people were not only content, but outright happy that he closed the site and "failed", from their perspective.
I just googled randomly around, followed a ton of links just because I was curious, but it appears a bit weird that people now throw shit at him. I mean (large, or atleast vocal) parts of the community were happy with schadenfreude when he closed it, said he got only half the users he was used to get and called the site a "trash" and "nooby" "shit" fansite.
I personally wouldn't even bothered with keeping the files around and just deleted them.
Now he uploads it, despite the shit being thrown at him, and people still rage. Maybe even the same people that were happy when he took it offline.
Don't get me wrong, I have really no idea what was going on. I don't even know what he does for Riot as "Community Guy". It just all seems so paradox to me...

FTFY.
Would that justify hacking/DDOSing Riot web/game servers and putting up dota advertisements since I like dota more?
+ Show Spoiler +COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL (and rhetorical). Not only would I never do such a morally bankrupt thing, I also lack the expertise or the motivation.

There are enough people unhappy with TL out there that people would make the same comments if TL suddenly shut down. There'd probably be a lot of comments like "site's been shit since SC2 came out anyway". Doesn't mean it wouldn't be regrettable and were it under similar circumstances, I'd hate the guy who's to blame for it anyway.
You're taking the comments that called the old Playdota "shit" at face value, which are just as unfounded as comments saying TL is a shit site.

Thats because, back in the day we were regular geeks playing games and discussing geeky stuff, after WOW everyone have become "geeks", and the trolls are everywhere...

God I'm reading through that reddit thread.
Oh thanks, THREE YEARS LATER. Oh well, now I can finally prove that I was the creator of: Teemo & Rammus
And that your Dev team went through the DotA hero/ability/item suggestions and RAPED it for ideas for your game. Thanks so much for that. A little credit would have been nice, but instead you took the forums down so no one would know what you did, and even if they did know, they'd have no proof.
Sad thing is, you were always nice to me. We'd play games with DevilsUrethra, ReposoEternal, GranDgrant, and a slew of other fun folks. Then you turned feral on us when you decided to make LoL.
As petty as it may seem, some of us TDA and DotA1 Beta members know everything you actually did and have a long memory. There are a handful of us that know exactly how hard you really did try and screw Ice, and how hard you screwed us TDA/Beta members over. Now that we finally have access to the archives, we have the proof we need.
Most people think you're a dick now, just wait till we start plastering the screenshots of the old forums where you plundered and pillaged our ideas and hard work for your game, and gave no credit or love back in return
God if that's true, fuck this guy.

The only reasonable explanation is that he was paid by Riot to put up that message as he still owned the site. Otherwise, you're moving on, why are you flinging shit? Why not get on with your life?
There were plenty of people upset back then. Yes D-A was already dying, but that's not an excuse.

One thing that you have to remember is that pendragon and icefrog had a disagreement at some point resulting in icefrog creating his own dota website, playdota. At that point the user base began to split between the two websites.
Regarding people trashing the old DA, every single community suffers from that. People trash TL, reddit, playdota, joindota, everything. Just normal Internet behaviour.

Pendragon already burned bridges when he took a shit on the Dota community 3 years ago. His recent comment only makes me dislike him more. If Nazgul one day scrapped TL and replaced the home page with a Command and Conquer ad, I'm pretty sure it would warrant the same reaction.

Yup, Just like TL bashes every other community, Reddit bashes every other community, Bnet forums bashes every other community (talking about sc2 here). So obviously if one site goes down than all there is left are posts on other site about this site being trash posted by people that have never been a part of said community.
