FOR THE ALLIANCE! Naniwa is shady?... Dude's damn good at SC2, and one of the top foreigners. Being good at game doesn't have anything to do with being shady. (No, i'm not going to comment on the Shady part, just saying) I'm sure there are better word(s) to describe Naniwa than shady though. So then what is he referring to? The amount of team's Nani has been on? He left Quantic on good terms, was set to rejoin Dignitas till Odee's house fire, and has developed as a person over the last year
I'm not sure what he is referring to. Maybe better word to describe him is questionable than shady. Because, all i think about someone being "shady" is cheating/hacking when it comes to games.
About the Quantic part, was that really so? Because all i remember was a shitstorm after.
And yes, you are certainly right that he is a good SC2 player and top-tier. No question about that.

Whether this is intentional or not, you must see that clumping a very controversial player like Naniwa, with Loda who has been a legend since 2006 -- and is extremely respected within the scene together in a brand new team raises some eyebrows.
What kind of signal are they telling us? Why would they not join EG in the first place? The reasons to that question seem many for our starcraft player, while few for our dota player. That is my point. I don't follow the intricate parts of the starcraft foreigner scene, but if what you say is true that Naniwa has learned from his mistakes then I'm glad he won't be representing what should be a long gone gaming stereotype. Maybe this is just a coincidence and all they wanted was some great players and they just happened to be both swedish. Lets hope so.

Hmmmm so do we need to replace the NTH favorite team icon or not because I really like that logo.
|
Keep it, similair to Oz and team8(although it wasn't exactly the same situation).
|
Wonder if EG will make mention of anything at any point if this is one of their ventures.
But I prefer the NTH name just sounds better.

Hit the nail on the head there, I think. Another way to put it is that EG wanted to sign him, but most of the players on EG protested, or something along those lines. I don't play as close attention to the scene as I should, but I'm pretty sure that Naniwa and Idra dislike each other strongly to put it mildly! Correct me if i'm wrong Idra wasn't the biggest fan of Huk either. I'm sure you can find some rather harsh words between them if you look. As Idra put it himsefl, he doesn't and never had a problem with Huks personality, he just didn't respect his play
Naniwa on the other hand, he called him a terrible person atleast once and does certainly NOT like him.
I hope they'll be NTH still, it's an awesome nametag especially after you know the backstory from it ^^

This isn't especially surprising, we've known that it was EG related but not EG proper for a couple of months. I suppose you could ask the question who initiated the whole thing and it could be from multiple sources.
Loda played on Zenith, who was solely sponsored by Razer. It's possible that he asked them to do something European based and then they decided to bring in EG to help manage.
Or Razer approached EG saying they wanted to be more involved in EU.
Or EG decided to get more involved in EU and Razer was just the first company to jump on the boat.
~
As for why rebrand, it makes sense. EG has a certain image, and it isn't necessarily positive throughout Europe. They would presumably bring in different sponsors more relevant to Europe.

'Not necessarily positive throughout Europe' - Is completely wrong imo, they have the (if not the second most) popular LoL team and Europeans LOVE LoL

i cant click anything on the page? does anyone else has this problem? congrats to eg.. on the new team

They bought a popular team and the team is still popular. Surprising? No.
Europeans don't have the affinity for EG as they do for Fnatic/Na'Vi/NiP/VP/whatever... Especially not in Dota. Rebranding gives them a blank slate not only for sponsors but for fans as well.

If I ever meet Loda on LAN I will attempt to steal that cap of his
I want to know whats underneath it.

You probably won't remember whats underneath when you wake up in the hospital next day. Loda's FURIOUS.

"The Alliance" is/was an old Diablo 2 clan which contained nearly exclusively swedish players from what I remember. I think they may have been a fairly highlevel GW2 or WoW guild or something as well. I wonder if there's any connection at all...

I dont know why i still have to think about the Life Inssurance Company when i read "The Alliance" .. D: but congratulations to NTH and of course Naniwa.

The most bland logo and name possible
a most bizarre branding decision by EG. I mean how fucking easy is it to draw up a complete team image around the idea of "EG.DoTA" and "EG.DoTA2". It even plays into the Chinese tradition of having 2 teams. It all seems like a really roundabout way of getting Naniwa onto EG without actually having him on EG then just lumping nth in with him.

You're placing some extraordinary value on Naniwa there, Nth will provide them with considerably more exposure than a single European SC2 player.
Not to mention Naniwa said he'd been working with the team for 3 months. While we know Nth has been working with them since before DHW.
Am I the only one who thinks rebranding for Europe makes perfect sense? And something no one's bringing up is, it's officially not a rebrand. Just because EG people work on a project doesn't make it EG. It could be owned by someone else (razer or third party or even someone inside of EG that isn't Alex).

Apparently their tag will be [A]*Nickname* .

hes going bald, it's a mess under there. He won't accept it so he keeps his hair long and hides it with a cap. You can see the few non-cap pics for hilarious comb overs. most all men go bald at some point, no need to ever resort to comb overs!
