Unless I missed something, we never really knew about why Scoots resigned.. People said he just went back to do his logistics job but it was weird for a man so involved and passionate about E-sports who has been there for a very long time to suddenly step down out of the blue. But perhaps , he left EG to prepare the Alliance which is essentially EG's sister team.
Scoots was also very involved/outspoken in that puppey dota twitter scandal which means he been paying quite a lot of attention to the scene.
Maybe this is also Razer's project. They want to run their own esports team but didn't want to risk angering/competing their clients like Microsoft did with Surface. Or maybe they realize they don't have any experience managing pro-gaming team. So they came together with EG to form a new team and asked EG to run the management part ( essentially a Joint Venture). Pure speculations but seems plausible to me.
