This period and last period's lists were dominated by Winter 2016 Compendium items. Two new additions, the Winter 2016 Treasure IV and III, topped March's results. Now that the Shanghai Major has concluded (congrats to Team Secret), Winter 2016 items have been removed from the store. The Nested Treasure II has a great shot at filling the void and reclaiming the 'most popular' title. The item was #1 in January before dropping to #4 and #5 during the Winter 2016 items' two-month reign.
The most surprising item on our list is the #8 ranked JJ Lin's Timekeeper Music Pack Bundle. Music packs have been known to sell well when: (1) they are initially released, and (2) they first go on sale. That being said, music packs rarely have the staying power to crack our monthly top 10. One recently released music pack just missed our list: this period, the Matt Lange Abstraction Music Pack placed #11. Note: JJ Lin's music pack is more expensive than standard music packs because it also contains the Timekeeper set for Templar Assassin.
March's list also contained an unusually large number of couriers; they accounted for 10.6% of the items that made at least one daily top 10 list during the month. Valve offered a lot of couriers on sale, which helps to explain this odd occurrence. March's most popular courier was the Deathripper, a two-legged contraption originally seen in Warmachine, a tabletop miniatures game.
