CDL EAST WINNER’S BRACKET SEMI- FINALS
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill VS Dalhousie University
Date: Sunday, January 13th, 7PM EST
Casted By: Greg “WhatIsHip” Laird
After a long Winter Break, both of these teams are ready to play out their first Best-of-5 series in the CDL. Dalhousie University and UNC Chapel Hill have both dropped only a single game out of the 9 they have played so far this season.
Coming from the upper portion of the bracket, we have UNC Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill is heading into this Semi-Final match off of a convincing 2-0 win over University of Waterloo’s Animi Magni team in the Quarter Finals. Chapel Hill is now faced with their first Best-of-5 of the tournament, and they will be looking to see if they can add another sweep to their record.
“Trolling, feeding, flaming, owning-- UNC Dota has it all. Should be a good match against Dal, but our well-rounded players will take the match.”
George “Flamewheel” Zhao (赵路明), UNC
From the lower half, we have Dalhousie University. Dal has shown throughout the tournament that they are a very adaptable and unpredictable team, both in hero selection and play-style. In their 9 CDL matches, Dalhousie has turned a lost game around with one teamfight, held off early game aggression with smart lane play, and forced a GG in 13 minutes. Dalhousie has also shown no fear in playing uncommon heroes; they have won games with Outworld Destroyer, Alchemist, and even Meepo, all within their brief CDL history.
"It's been a good tournament so far. We're happy that all the other schools in this tournament have been able to form such solid teams and hope they're having as much fun as we are. We feel confident going into the semis, despite the strength of the remaining winners-bracket teams."
Jon Wong, Dalhousie
One of these two powerhouses will face University of Toronto’s Taeyon Peas in the CDL East Winner’s Bracket Finals, and the other will be knocked into the Loser’s Bracket. Tune in to WhatIsHip on Sunday, January 11th, at 7PM EST, to find out who will win!
