wins DPL S4
This morning season 4 of Dota 2 Professional League, also known as DPL, came to an end. Over the last month and a half the top Chinese teams have competed to qualify for the LAN finals of what can be referred to the Dota 2 version of the Premier League. In the end 6 teams made their way to the LAN finals in Fuzhou, China.
The finals ended up being a rematch of the upper bracket finals from TI7. The back to back reigning champions Newbee versus the challengers LGD.Forever Young. After two games it looked like LFY would be able to easily prevent Newbee from taking their third straight win. But Newbee fought back eventually bringing the series to a 2-2 score, forcing a deciding game 5.
In this final game LFY did manage to recover, constantly building onto their lead and 40 minutes in to game 5 Newbee called GG, accepting the loss of their streak.
For LFY this can prove to be an important confidence booster. Since their great run at TI7, where they finished 3rd, the team has not been able to qualify for an internaltional LAN despite their best efforts. The team took part of the qualifiers for all minors as well as ESL One Hamburg, without managing to qualify for any of those events.
